The Paralympics torch has four flames with each one of them lit on top of the UK’s four highest mountains. Groups of Scouts and disabled volunteers climbed the summits where they sparked a national flame. This one is from Slieve Donard in the Mountains of Mourne in Co Down

A Paralympics flame hit some of London’s hotspots after lighting the cauldron in Trafalgar Square. In the video David Cameron said Britain and London “knows how to put on a show”! Torchbearers headed for Parliament, the Opera House and took in some salsa and samba at a local carnival.

The Olympic Games are now open after a spectacular opening ceremony created by film director Danny Boyle. The Torch was the highlight and wowed the crowd and had been carried across UK by 8,000 torchbearers. It left many of them emotional and in tears.
