Protester showers Starmer with glitter – just as he is about to give his speech

A prime moment for Sir Keir Starmer, he was ready to tell conference about the plans Labour party has for the future of the nation.

But he was interrupted.  A protester ran on to the stage behind him and showered Sir Keir with gold glitter.

It spilled all over his jacket as Starmer struggled to remover the glitter bomber.

Eventually security arrive and the demonstrator was removed.

This led to a standing ovation from the conference.

Sir Keir Starmer casually removed his glitter covered jacket, rolled up his sleeves and joked: “if he thinks that bothers me he doesn’t know me”!

Later a man 28, arrested on suspicion of assault, breach of the peace and causing public nuisance.
