Rishi Sunak – HS2 northern leg scrapped – watch his other plans for future
Rishi Sunak announced that the HS2 rail link between the West Midlands and Manchester will be scrapped.
The announcement made when Sunak addressed the Conservative Party conference in Manchester.
Every penny saved he said spent on transport – reinvesting in North and Midlands transport.
In his sights are big business, activist lawyers, lobbyists, quangos and any regulators which resist “fundamental” changes to our “broken politics”.
The PM will use set piece address on the fourth and final day of the Tory party conference to try to paint himself — not Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer — as the one to bring about radical reform.
Rishi Sunak will rebrand himself as radical reformer in speech and will declare ‘Westminster is a broken system’
