Jeremy Hunt – not time for tax cuts – Manchester
The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt due to deliver a speech announcing changes in the country’s economic future.
He will reveal that the national living wage is set to increase to at least £11 an hour from next April. The move will benefit two million of the lowest-paid workers.
It comes as the government is under pressure from some Tories to cut taxes.
Jeremy Hunt talked of the issue of halving inflation, growing the economy and reducing the debt.
He spoke about cutting waiting lists and stopping the boats crossing the channel with illegal migrants.
