Prince William visits New York Oyster project – watch him at work

Prince William is in New York to announce the finalists of the Earthshot prize, a contest he founded that seeks to reward innovations that might help to save the planet.

He will meet the UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres, to discuss climate change, and President Lasso of Ecuador, on the fringes of the UN general assembly.

First, though, was his audience with the oysters on Governor’s Island. He visited a pile of shells of oysters, consumed by New Yorkers and gathered for the project from 75 restaurants in the city, to serve as the bed of the oyster hatchery.

It all happened on a beach near the Brooklyn Bridge where he waded into the water to find an oyster.
