ITV Boss: would never turn a blind eye – the Phillip Schofield affair

ITV Exec: Nobody would ever turn a blind eye to something as serious as this.

Dame Carolyn McCall said the broadcaster repeatedly asked questions about rumours surrounding Phillip Schofield at This Morning, but “repeatedly told there was nothing happening”.

The TV boss appeared before a parliamentary committee to answer questions about the broadcaster’s approach to safeguarding and complaint handling after former employee Phillip Schofield’s exit from This Morning.

The chief executive was questioned by MPs from the committee on the row surrounding This Morning.  Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Dame Caroline Dinenage.

Phillip Schofield resigned from ITV after admitting to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague.

Schofield apologised to the nation about the controversial incident.
