Covid Inquiry first day of hearing – LIVE
The official Covid inquiry into the Government’s response to the pandemic holds its first day of hearing evidence today.
The public inquiry announced by Boris Johnson more than two years ago now finally hold its first substantive hearing.
It started with a statement from Baroness Hallett, (@13:13) the inquiry chairwoman, and a video played featuring people from across the UK sharing their experiences of loss.
This part of the inquiry is focusing on the UK’s “resilience and preparedness”.
The first module, examining the UK’s pandemic preparedness and planning expected to last approximately six weeks.
No-one found “guilty” or “innocent” in the inquiry – the idea is to learn lessons.
