Football regulator: new independent body – fans greater input

The plan for a football regulator, recommended by a fan-led review last year, has been confirmed by the UK government.

Stuart Andrew MP. Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Sport, made the announcement to parliament Thursday 23rd February.

One of the aims is to prevent historic clubs going out of business as well as giving fans greater input.

Blocking clubs from joining a breakaway European Super League will be among the powers held by English football’s new independent regulator.

This is part of Government’s reform on football governance.  It is expected to give more power to fans who say up until now have been ignored when decisions are made.
