Government vs Scotland on gender change at 16 – could this lead to a clash?
The Scottish government has made a change to the law which will make it possible for people officially to change their gender at the age of 16.
On the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show, Transport Secretary Mark Harper said necessary to wait for detailed legal advice on the issue. This should outline impact of that legislation on the rest of the UK.
This could lead to a clash between the UK and Scottish governments. The two sides are going in different directions on the process for allowing someone to change legal gender.
