Chancellor: millions will pay more tax
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt unveils package of tax hikes and spending cuts in the autumn statement to plug £54bn black hole. Hunt tells Britain to “face into the storm”.
He sets out his plan for stabilising the UK economy and reducing inflation.
Chancellor: announces 45p tax threshold reduces from £150,000 to £125,140 / From April 2025 electric vehicles no longer be exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty / Stamp duty cuts will stay in place until March 2025 / increase of Energy profits levy from 25% to 35% from January 1 until March 2028
600,000 more people on Universal Credit will be asked to meet with a work coach to increase hours of earnings.
NHS budget raised by £6.6bn over next two years
Extra £7.5bn funding over two years for social care
