Sunak: absolutely right Williamson resigned
The Prime Minister’s judgement came under scrutiny after his minister quits. Opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer wanted to know how he felt over alleged bullying remarks by Sir Gavin Williamson.
Rishi Sunak said that “unequivically” the alleged conduct of Gavin Williamson was “unacceptable”.
PM – says that “integrity in public life matters – regarding Williamson’s resignation. Also, he did not know about any of the specific concerns.
Sir Gavin accused of abusive behaviour towards fellow MPs and civil servants, though denies any wrongdoing.
Labour said the episode had shown “poor judgement and leadership” by Mr Sunak.
Sir Gavin was appointed minister without portfolio after Mr Sunak, a close political ally, won the Tory leadership just two weeks ago.
