Jeremy Hunt: biggest U-turns on mini-budget – watch in full
Jeremy Hunt has reversed almost all tax measures and ditches most of the Prime Minister’s plans.
The basic rate of income tax remains at 20p indefinitely – instead of being reduced to 19p
The cap on energy bills now guaranteed until April next year, but will be reviewed.
Hunt says his announcement is designed to calm financial turmoil following the mini-budget and brings forward measures from an economic plan on 31 October
But the cuts to stamp duty and National Insurance remain in place
