SNP leader accused of being in melt-down – First Minister’s first day back in parliament

Humza Yousaf makes his first key Holyrood speech hours after the SNP’s treasurer Colin Beattie is arrested by police investigating funding and finances of the party.

But it was during questions when the First Minister was confronted by opposition members about the scandal.

Conservative Meghan Gallacher and Labour’s Anas Sarwar both wanted to know how the SNP were going to respond.

Yousef gave little away and replied by describing the problems that surround Labour and Conservatives in Westminster.

He said the party was not only prepared ‘to talk the talk but also walk the walk’ and was given massive applause by his party members.

Ahead of his statement, Yousaf speaks to the media and acknowledges that the timing of the arrest “is far from ideal”.
