King Charles III Receives Motion of Condolence from Parliament

King Charles III makes his first visit as monarch to Parliament, where the Commons and Lords offer their condolences.

He is in the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster: Westminster Hall.

It is a spectacular building, often forgotten about beyond Westminster, as it’s not regularly televised in the way both the Commons and the Lords are.

Today’s visit is just the latest moment of note in Westminster Hall, since it was built in 1097.

Later today, he flies to Edinburgh where the Queen’s coffin rests at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Charles III was proclaimed King at an elaborate ceremony on Saturday.
