King Charles Coronation on 6 May 2023 – along with Camilla the Queen Consort

Next year’s coronation will be the first for almost 70 years – the last being for Elizabeth II in June 1953 – and the first held on a Saturday since Edward VII in 1902

Charles was officially proclaimed King on the Saturday following the Queen’s death. This event took place at St James’s Palace in London, in front of a ceremonial body known as the Accession Council.

The Accession Council confirmed the role in a historic meeting televised for the first time.

Flags lowered in mourning for the late Queen will fly full-mast after the Accession Council.

Later in the day Various dignitaries arrive at Buckingham Palace for an audience with King Charles III.

The Queen, the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96

Mourning continued throughout the nation.
