IOC pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
The President of the International Olympic Committee has paid tribute to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
At a meeting in Lausanne Thomas Bach told members of the Executive Board “that a great supporter of sport and the Olympic Movement”.
He added that Her Majesty was the only head of state to declare open two editions of the Olympic Games.
Flags were flying at half mast in respect for the loss of Queen Elizabeth.
Athletes and sporting venues across the nation have also paid respect.
