Duran Duran – Mechanical Bull open Commonwealth Games 2022 – watch how Birmingham reacted

A spectacular ceremony!  Alexander Stadium was on a high, full of sparks and fireworks. The nations and athletes thrilled to be in Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Then the 30,000 plus spectators went wild when legendary Birmingham band Duran Duran hit the stage.

Simon Le Bon – lead singer, John Taylor – bassist. Nick Rhodes – keyboardist, Roger Taylor – drummer headlined with “Hungry Like the Wolf” plus other of their hits.  The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra accompanied them.

Simon barely looked a year older than back then. What do you think?  Loved his jacket, t-shirt and silver strides.

There were many exciting and stimulating moments during the ceremony but among the biggest was a shock appearance of a 10m tall animatronc bull letting off steam.  Don’t miss it.

Were you there?  Did you see the ceremony?  What did you think?
