The jury did not reach a decision by the end of day so Judge Penney Azcarate sent them home for the weekend.  It is a bank holiday in the US and they return to court Tuesday May 31.  Are they having trouble reaching a decision?

During rebuttals Vasquez accused Amber Heard of being a liar.  Do you agree?   Vasquez says Heard was never going to stop calling Depp an abuser.

Ms Vasquez reminded the court what was said during their opening statements. This delivered when the trial started back in April – that “words matter”.  This case is about Heard’s words in her Washington Post op-ed, she adds.  This is what started the whole thing.

He says Depp’s team are “trying to deceive” the jury.  This by suggesting pictures of Heard with bruises or injuries are fake.  He wanted to own her he wanted to control her.

Amber is close to tears as she listens to what her lawyer is telling the jury.

When Depp’s finger was cut he dipped it in paint and then scrawled on a wall with it.  He later told said to Amber he “chopped” his finger off.

Lawyer Camille Vasquez delivering closing argument to jury on behalf of Johnny Depp.  Vasquez is describing Amber Heard as having a bad temper and wanting to ruin Depp.  Also, how Heard would organise paparazzi shoots to show how she had been treated.  Vasquez also outlining how Heard did not fulfil her pledge to donate divorce money to charity.  That she lied about donation.  She said Heard came in to give the performance of her life.  And she did.  It was a performance.  She wanted the court to believe she had been abused countless times.  But never had the medical evidence to prove it had happened.

Trial

This is final day of evidence and closing arguments.  Judge takes time in making sure all is in order before sending jury out to consider their verdict.

Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.”

Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
