Rishi Sunak – hundreds off energy bills – £10bn to households

Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled £10bn of support to help with rising energy bills, which will be funded in part by a windfall tax on energy firms.

The chancellor’s plan to offer £10bn to British households to help ease the cost-of-living crisis risks fuelling inflation, the Institute for Fiscal Studies has warned.

Additional help for around eight million of the lowest income households will be sent a one-off payment of £650
