Man walks race courses to raise funds for cancer – watch story unfold

A man from Kent is to walk 41 horse racing courses in the UK to raise money for cancer.

Gary Kirton, from Ashford, wants to raise money for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust by walking each course before the start of the actual race meeting.

Retired jockey Bob Champion was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1979.  Bob thought his career was finished, but the love for horse racing helped him recover and he went on the win The Grand National in 1983.  It was on Aldaniti.  The Bob Champion Cancer Trust was founded the same year.

Gary started the challenge in January, 2022, at Lingfield Park.  He has successfully completed 14 of the 41 planned walks and due to finish in December at Aintree Course Liverpool.
