Boris Johnson delivers non-stop apologies – watch the grovelling

Boris Johnson to offer a “full-throated apology” to MPs on Tuesday after fine for breaking Covid laws.  And it never stopped throughout the statement.  Many in the opposition were not sympathetic and insisted Boris should do the right thing and resign.

PM:  “I offer the British people a full apology” over partygate.

Is Boris contrite enough?  Not according to the Labour leader.

Sir Keir Starmer: it’s a “mealy-mouth apology”.  Sir Keir said if Boris Johnson had any respect for those who made sacrifices and  followed the Covid rules he would resign.

But it was not forthcoming.  Resignation was not going to happen.  Boris just said NO.

The Prime Minister returned from the Easter recess assured that he recognised the strength of feeling over the fine.

Boris Johnson used his statement to also talk about the Ukraine crisis.  More weapons are being sent to the nation.
