Search for new Met Chief after Cressida quits – with “sadness and regret”

The search for a new Metropolitan Police Commissioner is under way after the resignation of Dame Cressida Dick.

The Commissioner said that she was left with “no choice”.  This after Sadiq Khan made it clear that he no longer had trust and confidence in her.

She said she had “agreed to stay for a short period to ensure the stability of the Met”.

Last week, the police watchdog found “disgraceful” misogyny, discrimination and sex harassment among some Met PCs.

Dame Cressida, the first woman to lead the biggest UK police force, also faced criticism over the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving Met officer last year.
