Culture Secretary freezes BBC TV licence – House of Commons 

Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries makes a statement on TV licensing.

Nadine Dorries said – state-run TV has had its day.  The government will explore other models such as subscription or mutual ownership.  The BBC must become a ‘simpler leaner organisation’.

The Culture secretary to keep the BBC licence fee flat at £159 a year until 2024.
