#COP26 – revised agreement agreed – applause for Alok Sharma

New global climate deal agreed at Cop26 in Glasgow after last-minute wrangling over agreement on cutting coal.  Alok Sharma was given a standing ovation

Delegates went through the process of adopting the proceedings.  It was a full house.

EU: this conclusion will help us get rid of coal.

Delegates have been locked down in efforts to agree deal.

COP26 chairman Alok Sharma said: this is our collective moment in history and our chance to forge a cleaner, healthier more prosperous world.

New draft: keeps its references to phasing out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies. Asking rich nations to double climate adaption finance by 2025 from 2019 levels.

Sharma: the world is willing us to reach agreement here.  What has been put forward is a balanced programme.  This is the moment of truth for our planet.

But there were some countries not happy with the wording of the document.

EU implored the nation to accept the text.
