The day parliament remembered Sir David Amess

MPs filled the House of Commons to pay tribute to Sir David Amess. He had been fatally stabbed to death in his constituency on Friday 15 October.  Sir David was meeting constituents in his Southend West seat when the attack happened.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailed him as a “seasoned campaigner of verve and grit” and a “steadfast servant” of his voters.

Fellow Essex MP Mark Francois called him “the best bloke I ever knew”.
