Inquiry into failures involving Sarah Everard killer – a police officer

An inquiry to be launched into “systematic failures” that allowed Wayne Couzens to continue to be a police officer, Priti Patel announced.

The home secretary said the public “have a right to know” why he remained in the Metropolitan Police despite concerns about his behaviour.

Couzens kidnapped, raped and murdered Sarah Everard while he was a serving officer.  This while using his police warrant card.

He has since been linked to allegations of indecent exposure.

The Met has faced mounting questions over its policies and procedures in the wake of Ms Everard’s murder.

Will an inquiry be enough?  What kind of result should we have?  Do you trust the police?  Do you support them?  Is it time to change their role?  More police on the streets help?
