Launch UK – space transport across nation – from 2022 – watch competitors

Government’s mission is for the UK to be at the global forefront of small satellite launch and emerging space transportation markets.  Its vision is to provide world-leading capability. This by bringing new markets to the UK and inspiring the next generation of British space scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs.

The Spaceflight Programme intends to establish commercial vertical and horizontal small satellite launch from UK spaceports from 2022.

The ambition is for the first UK launches to take place from 2022.  In place is the Space Industry Act 2018, a flexible high-level regulatory framework to proceed with the space plan.

Is this a good idea?  Should UK enter space industry?  Can we afford it?  Will it make money?  Can the UK compete with the rest?
