Freedom Day July 19 restrictions lifted but covid not over – cannot go back to life before covid
Boris Johnson confirmed step four in his roadmap out of restrictions goes ahead as planned Monday July 19. But before anything else he spoke about the England vs Italy game and the behaviour of some fans.
Concerning the racist remarks Boris said: he hoped those who used such abuse would crawl back from under the rock they came. He also looked forward to hosting World Cup next year.
PM: I expect and recommend people wear face asks in crowded spaces – such as public transport.
Boris: it is absolutely vital that we proceed with caution. The pandemic is not over and we cannot simply revert to life as it was before COVID.
Nightclubs and venues with crowds should use covid passports for entry ‘as a matter of social responsibility’.
Freedom Day marks the end of all legal Covid regulations. But concerns have arisen that government messaging will curb people’s ability to take advantage of some freedoms again.
The Prime Minister is expected to say the four tests in the final stage in his roadmap have been met. However he issued a note of caution on Sunday night.
