Amber list quarantine to end for fully vaccinated

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps set out the changes to travel quarantine rules in parliament.

New rules come into effect from 19 July.  This potentially opens up many tourist hotspots to English holidaymakers.

The exemption will apply to vaccinated UK residents and under 18s arriving in England.  But will need to pay for PCR tests before and after their return.

Travel industry leaders said the change was a ‘positive step’ but called for the amber list to be expanded.

147 destinations are currently on the amber list.  They include Portugal, France, Spain and the US.

Grant Shapps: to be clear a full vaccination means 14 days have passed since your final dose of the vaccine.
