IOC to plant an Olympic Forest – an environmental mission

The International Olympic Committee is to plant an ‘Olympic Forest’ in Mali and Senegal.

It is part of the ‘Great Green Wall’ initiative which restores landscapes across Africa’s Sahel region.

The IOC will work with Tree Aid.  Together they will plant around 355,000 native trees across 2,000 hectares in around 90 villages.

Planting a tree today could be a forest tomorrow.  A greener planet is a better planet.  It is said that planting a tree can have blind blowing potential to tackle climate change.

Planting a tree can help nature thrive. Protect Nature & Create Wildlife Habitats.

Mali and Senegal are to host the Youth Olympics Games Dakar 2026.
