G7 Summit pledges 1 billion vaccine doses to poorer countries

In the news briefing Boris Johnson praised the commitments made at the summit on vaccinations, climate change and education.  The PM said the G7 to donate one billion vaccine doses to poorer countries by next year.  The G7 also discussed climate, trade and countering China’s influence.

Boris Johnson denied the summit was dominated by rows over Brexit.  He said it was a ‘vanishing small’ part of the meeting.

The United Kingdom hosted the 47th G7 Leaders’ Summit 2021 in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.  Today the final session  concentrated on the environment.  Before Leaders met Sir David Attenborough delivered a message.  He urged them to invest and participate in saving the planet.  Will they do it?  The Prime Minister urged the Leaders to take on board the message by Sir David.  If all agree then there is a future to look forward to.

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) consists of Germany, Italy, France, the UK, Japan, the US and Canada. Along with EU representatives and leaders from guest countries.  They include Australia, India, South Africa, and South Korea.
