Health Secretary Matt Hancock leads the Downing Street press briefing on Covid-19.

Hancock: UK orders extra 60 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine.  This part of government’s plan for booster programme in autumn.

Hancock: More supplies arriving in India from the UK later this week. The Pandemic is a global fight and the UK will be there for countries in need.  With this battle with coronavirus we are all on the same side.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer: the vaccine programme is the way out of the covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Nikki Kanani, Medical Director of Primary Care at NHS England.  Praised work of regions in England for the massive and successful vaccine programmes.

Earlier, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed that the NHS Test and Trace app will become Britons’ vaccine passport for international travel.

It has also emerged that green-list countries will be announced at the beginning of May.
