The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral at St George’s Chapel, Windsor took place on Saturday, April 17, 3pm, in a royal funeral unlike any other.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the funeral would to adhere to current guidelines. This is because current covid restrictions allow just 30 mourners to be present. Members of the public asked not to attend or participate in any of the events that make up the funeral.
The coffin left the state entrance of Windsor Castle at 2.40pm on April 17. The procession steps off at 2.45pm, with the Land Rover reaching the West Steps of the chapel eight minutes later.
Queen travelled with a lady-in-waiting in the state Bentley at the end of the procession, and entered the chapel by a side door.
The duke’s children walked alongside his hearse during the procession.
Funeral began with a national minute’s silence at 3pm as the coffin enters St George’s Chapel.
