Golden Globes 2021: historic nominations – for female directors

Three women have been nominated for best director at the Golden Globe awards.  This is the first time more than one has been shortlisted in a single year.

Regina King, Chloe Zhao and Britain’s Emerald Fennell nominated alongside David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin.

Fincher’s Mank the most nominated film with six nominations – the same number as The Crown which leads in the TV awards.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Olivia Colman among the Britons up for acting awards.

The winners announced in a ceremony on 28 February. The awards taking place two months later than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic.
