Vaccinating the World – From Mass Production to Last-Mile Delivery – Davos 2021, World Economic Forum – 29 January  13:00

Vaccinating the World

Get involved with health challenges!

Vaccine developers estimate that they can make sufficient doses for more than one-third of the world’s population by the end of 2021.  It’s considered to be the “biggest logistical challenge the world has ever seen”.  The shipping, storing, freezing, communicating and vaccinating is about to begin.  Will there be good suggestions of ideas to get this done?  Will there be full support for this programme?  It will be a massive programme can it be done? The United Nations believes it can be done.  But can we do it?  Watch the video to hear the arguments.

Stanley M Bergman: Problems and challenges: critical to make sure the whole world gets access to the virus.  It does not have documents or a passport it just arrives.  If you have money you can buy the logistics so supply chain provided if paid for.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem:  difficult to find containers.  Security is also essential so that the vaccine can reach the people.  Have to protect the people.  Fear only a proportion will get vaccine – what about the rest?  Keep vaccine in programme of a jab for all across the globe

What policies, practices and partnerships are needed to manufacture and distribute a COVID-19 vaccine to nearly 8 billion people?  It is a lot of people and a lot of vaccine needed. Can they get it to the right places?  Should there be sharing of the vaccine?  Will the vaccine supply be provided by the richer nations?  Do you want them to stay safe and stay alive?

This session is associated with the World Economic Forum’s Pandemic Supply Chain Network (PSCN).

Did you watch?  Is this a key issue in the vaccination programme?  It is bound to be a logistics nightmare.  Are you happy with the vaccination programme in the UK?  What about the European Union?  And the rest of the world?  It is time for a vaccine for everyone worldwide.  Will it be a struggle to do this?  Will there be sufficient vaccine for the community?  The vaccine is in good supply but the worldwide community needs help it getting it.  How to get it to the wider community.
