Covid-19 Major Incident in London – Mayor says it is like a ‘theatre of war’

The spread of Covid in London is “out of control” according to Sadiq Khan, who has declared a “major incident”.   Khan says we can control the virus if the rules are followed.

The Mayor added the situation had reached a level where health workers were in a ‘theatre of war’.  Sadiq Khan urges the public to wear masks and stay at home.

The coronavirus infection rate in London has exceeded 1,000 per 100,000 people.  This is based on the latest figures from Public Health England.

A major incident is any emergency that requires the implementation of special arrangements.  This is by one or all of the emergency services.  For example the NHS or the local authority.
