ESA and humans going to the moon
The Artemis programme is to take humans back to the Moon. It depends heavily on NASA‘s Orion spacecraft. It consists of a crew module and the European Service Module. This will provide propulsion, life support, environmental control and electrical power.
Main contractor Airbus is given the green-light by ESA to develop a third European Service Module.

With the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024. Innovative technologies used to explore more of the lunar surface. NASA plans to collaborate with commercial and international partners and establish sustainable exploration by the end of the decade. The Agency will use what it learned on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap – sending astronauts to Mars.
