Priti Patel: Justice will follow thuggery – black lives matter but no excuse for unlawful violence

The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, gave the warning in a statement to the House.  She said the government understands the importance of the right to protest but due to the virus any large gatherings are unlawful

Patel: Your behaviour is shameful and you will face justice.  Black Lives Matter but it is no excuse for the violence against ‘our brave police officers at home’.

Home Secretary made clear that the police had her full backing and would not accept harmful attacks on officers.

Meanwhile, the Voice newspaper’s director Paulette Simpson has called for restraint from protesters.

Anti-racism protests have taken place across the world. They followed the death of George Floyd, 46, in Minneapolis, in the US. This was after a white police officer was filmed kneeling on his neck.

Were you at the protests at the weekend?  Did you participate?  Was it the right thing to do?  Do you believe in protests?  Should they be peaceful?  Are protests your thing? Do you enjoy taking part?
