Professor Stephen Powis, National Medical Officer for NHS England: Social distancing a slow increase in vehicle movements but public transport very low. Public complied with instructions. Increase because of capacity of testing. Overall stable and even falling. Hospital admissions: 637 on a decline. Mechanical ventilator beds – falling. Number of people in hospital less than 10,000. Deaths on a downward trend but must not get complacent need to stay vigilant, stay alert. Track and trace strategy is very important for keeping virus under control but it is not the only thing.
