Govt Coronavirus news update 19 May – people in Britain urged to join the agriculture workforce of ‘pickers’

Further Covid-19 deaths of 545 bringing total to 35,341

The latest date from the government on the number of deaths and admissions across the UK.

Environment Secretary, George Eustice leads the briefing: There have been a further 545 Covid-19 related deaths in all settings in the UK bringing the total to 35,341. George Eustice made a call for labourers – pickers – to help farmers with agriculture work. They need more people from the UK to help with picking food from vegetables to fruit and harvesting crops. Recruited over 20,000 for testing, tracing.
