Raab stands in for Boris PMQs – 12:00

Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab deputised for Boris Johnson at the dispatch box again at Prime Minister’s Questions. He faced Labour leader Keir Starmer, who told the FT that Downing Street had been “slow in pretty well all of the major decisions” so far. Virtual parliament

Boris is busy being a new dad.  His fiance Carrie has given birth and they are parents of a baby boy.

Raab: NHS has capacity to deal with other health emergencies as well as Covid-19. We are on track to make great progress to reach 100,000.  Can’t give details on exit until further SAGE scientific evidence. Risk of second spike.  UK International client of choice for PPE deliveries from abroad.

Starmer: Things are worse and not better. He welcomes the number of deaths in hospitals and admissions going down. But not case in care homes. He says there has been “anxiety” on the frontline of the care sector over a lack of PPE and testing.  Social distancing absolutely amazing.  Exit strategy? Govt must be open with the people. Would like to support strategy if we know what it is.
