Queen: We will meet again – time of disruption – better days will return

The Queen spoke of the value of self-discipline and resolve during the coronavirus pandemic. In this rare speech, she acknowledged the grief, pain and financial difficulties Britons are facing during this “time of disruption”.

She also thanked NHS staff and key workers, and emphasised the important role individuals can play.  The Queen made reference to when she and her sister were in exile in 1940 and made her first broadcast.

The head of state has spoken three times before during times of trouble.

Speeches broadcast after the Queen Mother’s death in 2002, ahead of Diana, Princess of Wales’s funeral in 1997.  Also about the First Gulf War in 1991.

Did you watch it?  Were you happy with what she said?
