Michael Gove Chancellor of Duchy of Lancaster hosting the presentation: Urging public to stay home: Do not be tempted on this sunny weekend to venture out and about. Hospital admissions in Yorkshire up by 35% in the Midlands risen by 47%. Admission fallen from 1-2 April in London but has gone up in other areas.
Accelerating work on building hospitals
Professor Stephen Powis, NHS Medical Director England: Hundreds of ventilators being produced in UK every day with 300 more arriving from China on Saturday. Death rate continues to be high it’s likely to continue for next week or two.
Today, NHS England says a further 637 patients who died from virus were between five to 104-years-old.
Government urging everybody to stay at home. Don’t be tempted by the warm sunshine to group, picnic or party. Stay the distance, stay home, stay safe and save lives.
The curve is still high but reports indicating it could just be beginning to drop.
