Some people may be tempted to go out tonight – but PM says: please don’t go out.  So, will they stay home?  Will the young listen and spend their nights at home?  It is a big ask but it will helps save lives.

Government telling pubs, cafes, nightclubs, bars, theatres, restaurants, leisure centre and gyms to close from tonight.  Must stop unnecessary social activity.  Public not abiding by the restriction so far so must do what is necessary to protect NHS and save lives.  In the meantime London is virtually empty.  Are people listening at last?  The young people have not been convinced.

Chancellor:  For first time in history the government will help to pay wages and set up job retention scheme.  £1bn support for renters. Any employer will be eligible to apply for grant to cover 80 percent of salary of staff whoa re not working.

Boris Johnson reveals an unprecedented package of wage subsidies. Also tax cuts today after he pledged to “stand by the workers of this country”.

Jenny Harris – medical advisor: exercising outside fine but inside, like gyms, should be closed to users.  This is an unprecedented in the health system. Must not put life at risk endangering your own and others
