Priti Patel Bullying Allegations. an inquiry is to be held into the claims
The government is to investigate whether Home Secretary Priti Patel has breached the ministerial code. It comes amid allegations of bullying.
Cabinet office minister Michael Gove confirmed the inquiry after an urgent question from Jeremy Corbyn. Mr Corbyn said he believed Ms Patel should be sacked.
In the Commons, Mr Gove said Ms Patel “absolutely rejects these allegations”. “The prime minister has expressed his full confidence in her and having worked closely with the home secretary over a number of years, I have the highest regard for her – she is a superb minister doing a great job,” he said.
Sir Philip Rutnam, the Home Office’s most senior official, resigned on Saturday citing a “vicious and orchestrated” campaign against him.
Ms Patel has not made any public comment since Sir Philip announced his resignation.
What are your thoughts on this story? Should Ms Patel be sacked? Is it time for her to go? Will she survive the inquiry? Do you believe it should be a public inquiry? Has she done a good job? How long do you think it will take? Has the government taken the right action?
