Boris MPs Return to the Commons
The Chamber in the House of Commons was crammed with MPs. Many of them new having won seats in the General Election.
Boris Johnson was cheered by his triumphant party. Jeremy Corbyn paid tribute to Labour MPs who lost their seats.
There were tributes from all sides of the House to the victims and those who suffered from the London Bridge attack.
The Conservative Party won a majority of at least 78, its biggest general election victory since 1987. The mood was warm and even friendly.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle ‘dragged’ to his chair as he began his first day as Speaker of the House.
In his opening speech Boris could not resist a reference to previous Chamber: This Parliament a vast improvement on its predecessor.
