Sam Mendes 1917 in one shot. Done to show how difficult it was for the soldiers in WWI. The film arrives in UK cinemas January 10.

None of the filming for 1917 was done while the sun was shining.  Director Sam Mendes explained it was important to do the shoot with clouds in the sky for the purpose of continuity.  It also helped create the realistic atmosphere of the trenches.

Watch the video and hear how Sam Mendes set up the scenes so that they could be filmed on long shot.  Difficult to achieve for sure but he did it.
