Green Party launch manifesto. Pledge zero carbon emissions by 2030

The Green Party of England and Wales launched its election manifesto with a pledge to reach net zero carbon emissions in the UK by 2030.

It says it would invest £100bn a year by 2030 as part of a “green new deal” to tackle climate change – to be mainly paid for by borrowing.

Co-leader, Jonathan Bartley also pledged the party would increase NHS funding, hold a Brexit referendum and extend voting to 16-year-olds.

Green Party is standing in 498 out of 573 English and Welsh seats.

Co-leader Sian Berry has promised to “hit the ground running,” at the launch of the party’s manifesto, because “the future won’t give us another chance to get these next two years right”.
