Brexit Delayed EU Agrees Flextension – MPs Reject Election

Boris Johnson is to try again for a pre-Christmas election after MPs rejected his plans for the third time.

The prime minister will publish a short piece of legislation seeking the support of the Lib Dems and SNP for an election on Thursday, 12 December.

It came after he failed to secure the necessary support of two-thirds of MPs under the Fixed Terms Parliament Act.

“This House can no longer keep this country hostage,” he told MPs, saying Parliament had become “dysfunctional”.   Will MPs settle down and get this done. What do you think of Brexit, its arguments and Christmas going on at the same time?

Brussels has this morning signed off a three-month Brexit “flextension” – with the option of leaving as early as November 30 if a deal is approved by MPs.

The UK will be granted a delay until January 31, EU boss Donald Tusk confirmed this morning.

The UK was due to leave the EU on Thursday.  But Mr Johnson was required to request an extension from the bloc after Parliament failed to agree a Brexit deal.

The PM had repeatedly said the UK would leave on 31 October deadline “do or die”, but the law – known as the Benn act – also requires him to accept the offer.

Do the people want a General Election?  Do you want to vote in another Election?  Will it help resolve the problem?  Who would you vote for?  Would it be difficult to choose who you would want in power?
