Boris Aims to Push Through Brexit Bill.  MPs have rejected a proposal to examine Boris Johnson’s Brexit bill in the Commons in three days.

The Commons supported the Withdrawal Agreement Bill earlier, vote: yes 329 no 299.  But voted against the short timetable 322 votes to 308

PM has paused the Brexit Bill after losing the timetable proposal.  Speaker of the House, John Bercow, said the bill was now “in limbo”

Earlier, the PM warned he would seek an election if MPs dismissed the plan and the EU granted an extension to 31 October Brexit deadline.

But a number of members said three days did not give them enough time to scrutinise the 110-page bill.

The government has published its 110-page bill to turn Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal into law.

MPs are facing three days of debate over the Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB).  If they approve the intensive Commons timetable proposed by No 10.

Mr Johnson agreed a deal with the EU last week.  But it needs the approval of both the UK and EU parliaments to come into force.

The PM tried to get the deal signed off in the Commons on Saturday before moving onto consideration of the bill.

But instead, MPs backed an amendment withholding their approval.  This until the WAB had faced the scrutiny of both the Commons and the Lords, and been passed into law.
